The WA Children’s Week Awards is about celebrating children. Groups of children across Western Australia who have shown generosity, compassion, and a strong sense of spirit are thanked and rewarded for their efforts. The Awards also recognise adults and services or projects that have made an outstanding contribution to improving opportunities for Western Australian children families or the community. With the theme of discovery, this year’s Art Awards will be promoted by WA Children’s Week Ambassador Fairy Queen Caroline.
Last year Meerilinga Young Children’s Foundation Inc. celebrated 30 years of convening Children’s Week in Western Australia. Children’s Week is a National annual event held around the fourth Wednesday every October to coincide with UNICEF Australia’s Children’s Day. It is based on the articles expressed in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, emphasising play, wellbeing and protection. Children’s Week aims to recognise the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children and young people with the key message of ‘Celebrating Children’.
WA Children’s Week Awards is proudly sponsored by the Department of Education, the Department of Local Government and Communities, and The West Australian, School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA), The State Library of Western Australia and Child Education Services.
