South West Metropolitan Parenting Service

Supporting parents to help their children thrive

South West Metropolitan Parenting Service (SWMPS) is a partnership between Meerilinga Parenting Service, City of Cockburn and Kwinana Early Years Service.

We work alongside professionals, non-government organisations and government bodies to advocate for parents while offering workshops that cover a range of parenting topics, including parent-child relationships, attachment, play, child development, sleep, nutrition and toileting.

Our Workshops

SWMPS offers workshops across a range of parenting topics including parent-child relationships, attachment, behavior, emotional regulation, sleep, feeding, toileting and play and development.

Our courses and workshops range from one-off events to weekly support groups, and participants may meet in person or online depending on the program.

Who we Support

We’re helping parents with children aged pre-birth to 18 years in Cockburn, Rockingham, Kwinana, Fremantle, Melville and East Fremantle.

‘Parent’ includes mums, dads, carers, foster carers, relative carers, stepfamilies, grandfamilies and others who have a direct full-time, part-time or occasional parenting role.

The team at SWMPS pride ourselves on creating environments and support networks that assist those who identify as Dads/Fathers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents, those from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and young parents (under 25). All are welcome to engage with the caring and responsive SWMPS service.

Services are free or low cost and no referral is needed if you are a parent or carer.

Workshops for Professionals

The Meerilinga Parenting Service team can tailor workshops to suit professionals (individual and group) working with families, including those in health, education, and early education and care.
