Children’s Week WA Awards Ceremony

The achievements of WA children and their community support groups will be commended at the 2013 WA Children’s Week Awards at the Heath Ledger Theatre on Wednesday 23 October 10.30am-2pm.

Meerilinga Young Children’s Foundation Inc. will be presenting the awards at the State Theatre Centre of WA, Heath Ledger Theatre, Wednesday 23 October from 10.30am – 12pm followed by refreshments. Achievements of children across the state will be recognised, as well as adults who have provided opportunities for children to reach their potential, and services which link WA’s various community groups and resources to improve public access and participation in the education, social skills, health, development and safety of our children.

Dignitaries attending include Patron of Children’s Week, Mrs Tonya McCusker; Hon. Peter Collier MLC Minister for Education; Energy; Indigenous Affairs; Hon Tony Simpson MLA, Minsiter for Local Government, Communities, Seniors and Volunteering; Michelle Scott, Children and Young People Commissioner; Mrs Lesley Moreschi CEO Meerilinga Young Children’s Foundation Inc. Representatives from numerous community organisations are also in attendance.

Winners of the WA Children’s Week Go for 2 & 5 Art® Awards will also be announced, winners and commended artwork will be displayed at the State Theatre Centre of WA, Heath Ledger Theatre on 23 October 2013, followed by the WA State Library until the 29 November 2013.

Over one thousand award nominations have been received from across the metropolitan, rural and remote regions. Nominees include schools, child care centres, cultural, play, peer and similar groups of children, as well as individuals, community clubs, sporting teams and dance troupes.
