Toddler Tucker Presentation at Aboriginal Play and Learning Forum

Toddler Tucker is a healthy lifestyle program which provides resources, promotional material, training and support to assist Aboriginal parents and carers to develop healthy eating behaviours in their children aged 1 to 3 years.

The program is designed to be delivered by community facilitators working with Aboriginal families, such as Aboriginal Health Workers, Best Start Coordinators, playgroup facilitators. The key focus of the program is on healthy nutrition for toddlers, physical activity, personal and food hygiene, dental health and the importance of health check-ups.

To deliver the program, the following resources have been developed:

  • Presentation both as power point and flip chart
  • 6 minute DVD
  • Parent handbook to take home
  • Facilitator and background manual
  • Evaluation forms for facilitator and parents
  • Contact information for Meerilinga Nutrition support

The presentation can be run as one approximately 2 hour session or it can be split into 6 shorter sessions run over a number of weeks. The presentation allows for parents to share their experiences with others and learn skills to help their toddlers grow up strong.
