“As Children’s Week Family Ambassadors 2014, the Wirrpanda family are proud to endorse the WA Children’s Week Awards.” Says David’s partner, Shannon McGuire who will represent the family at the launch. The Awards celebrate children’s artistic talents and also recognise group of children across Western Australia who have shown commitment and engagement in initiatives that support health and wellbeing.

Proudly convened by Meerilinga for thirty years in 2014, the WA Children’s Week Awards recognise and celebrate the positive ways children contribute to the WA community. The Awards will be launched by Hon. Tony Simpson MLA, Minister for Local Government and Communities, Seniors and Volunteering: Youth at Meerilinga’s Children and Family centre in Beechboro.

Minister Simpson said “The Awards are also an opportunity to acknowledge the delivery of excellence in services to children and family and to recognise the unique contributions made by volunteers and the impact of their dedication to WA families.” Also attending the event will be Mrs Tonya McCusker, Patron WA Children’s Week and Ms Jenni Perkins; Acting Commissioner for Children and Young People. Nominations for the WA Children’s Week Awards, which offer a share of $10,000 in cash and prizes, close on Friday 8th August.
