As the weather starts to cool down and the winter months lay ahead, we thought we’d share our favourite all weather activities – perfect for those early mornings and late afternoons spent indoors.
1. Imaginative Play
Balloon tennis, the floor is lava or perhaps a game of hot potato? Play not only has wonderful developmental benefits but it also boosts good chemicals in the brain and reduces stress and anxiety. For some grand inspirations for the great indoors, check out these fantastic ideas.
2. Cook up a storm!
Cooking can improve language skills, introduce children to scientific concepts, enhance fine motor skills and boost family connections. Try bringing your little chef into the kitchen with a great list of recipes to try here, or watch the video above to learn how to create Ballajura’s Easy, Cheesy, Muffins!
3. Explore the World
Fancy a trip to the zoo or perhaps you’ve always wanted to visit the Getty? Spark your child’s curiosity and encourage critical thinking by a trip to one of the world’s best institutions. Head here for a full list of Western Australian Museums and Galleries offering virtual tours.
4. Get Crafty
Colouring in and drawing have so many benefits for children and adults alike. Boost concentration whilst relaxing and unwinding by colouring these beautiful natural history posters, make playdough or try learning how to draw with Mo Willems.
