We know how important quality Early Learning is to the development of young children, with benefits on their social and emotional skills as well as their early understanding of numeracy and literacy. However, we understand that barriers exist that make accessing education, care, community connections or other support more difficult.
To help families and children navigate and overcome these obstacles, we’re introducing Leonie Delaney as our new Family Partnerships Coordinator. Leonie is working across our Meerilinga services, connecting with families, educators and community organisations to help identify what families need and find practical pathways forward.
Her role includes supporting families to:
- Navigate services, referrals and support systems
- Access community and family supports
- Work through barriers affecting attendance and participation
- Connect with appropriate organisations and professionals
- Strengthen partnerships between families, services and the wider community
- Feel heard, supported and confident in accessing help when it is needed
Just as importantly, Leonie will be coming alongside our educators and Centre Coordinators to provide guidance, mentoring and practical support when family situations become more complex. As Leonie supports these conversations and connections between educators, families and external professionals, she will be strengthening family-centred and inclusive practices and making Meerilinga better for children, families and the community.
We’re excited to see the positive effect that Leonie will have at Meerilinga as we advocate for parents and families and ensure better childhoods and better futures for children, and she is already building strong relationships across our services and communities.
Do you need support? Whether you’re a current family or not, make sure to speak to our Educators or your local Community Centre Coordinator so that we can help you and your child on their Early Learning journey.
