We’re so excited that Ruby has come on board as our Story Dog for 2025!
This early literacy initiative is just one way that we’re improving the education of all the children of our Early Learning Programs. Story Dogs especially can help those children who may be at a disadvantage when it comes to learning.
Introducing a Story Dog at our locations offers a research-backed approach to supporting children’s learning and development by creating a calm and engaging environment where children feel safe and encouraged to practice literacy skills without fear of judgment. This experience not only strengthens reading ability but also nurtures emotional well-being, social confidence and self-esteem — all key factors in reducing the negative effects of early disadvantage.
By fostering a positive relationship with learning, a StoryDog helps improve educational outcomes and contributes to bridging the gap for children who may otherwise fall behind.
Thank you to funding from the Australian and Western Australian Governments for helping us to bring Ruby into our Centres in 2025! If you’re a parent considering an Early Learning Program, call us today to discuss our Story Dog program.
Oh, and if your child is allergic to dogs, don’t worry! As part of our wider risk assessment process, we schedule Ruby’s visits around those children who may have allergies and our staff spend time cleaning the areas Ruby has visited after she leaves our Centres.
